BYOC!

1. What's your most favorite noise and your least favorite noise?

Most fave > I love the *POP* of a champagne cork!

Least fave > Hearing the "clip" noise of fingernail clippers IN THE OFFICE. Seriously!! Raised. By. WOLVES!!!

2. If you were a character in the movie Grease – who would you be?

For sure Sandy.

3. What was the name of your best friend in elementary school? Are you still friends?

My best friend was this girl named Patty, who I thought was The Bomb. Her parents had the sickest house, and she had the best birthday parties. Plus, we lived in Holland at that time, and her parents always had VCR (or VHS?) tapes of American TV shows and would let us stay up till all hours watching tv when we had sleepovers. We snuck our first cigarettes together (and pretended we burried a dead bird when we burried the butts), tortured the guys we had crushes on a bit (my favorite was a note "Do you like [guy's name?] Yes No." We'd check "NO" and then "let" the guy get the note from us... Terrible!!). We also invented a ton of secret code languages and would write out elaborate keys to them and send each other notes in code -- totally awesome stuff. After I moved back to the states, she turned out to be a rotten pen pal, and we fell out of contact. Years later, I found her through the Internet and we e-mailed a few times --- she was an architect, living in London, and I'd just started my first job as an attorney in NYC. She was still as bad as ever about keeping in touch though, and the acquaintance fell off. Earlier this year, I saw that my big brother friended her older sister on FB, and I found her and sent her a friend request.... which she ignored. WTH, Patty?!?!

4. Who is your current celebrity crush?

Ryan Gosling. Ryan Gosling. Ryan Gosling.

5. Repeat question: How was your week in real life and in blog land?

I'm not going to sugar coat it. This week was stressful in real life and I've been feeling cranky, sick, tired and fed up as a result. I am dealing with some seriously annoying bullsh*t at the place where I go (as Dinnerland calls it), and I've been engaged in some irritating apartment lease renegotiation -- and, while I've talked the apartment folks down from the INSANE increase they proposed, this has forced the issue of Should-We-Be-Talking-About-Moving-In-Imminently ... and I'm left with the fact that my boyfriend isn't ready to move things forward yet, though we've been together constantly through the past 10 months and have been really happy. So, I'm left wondering whether this is another PP situation and I should just run for the hills right now, or whether I should be patient and give him some more time. And I'm turning 41 next month and I want to have kids. .. so tickety-freaking-tock. And, to add to the sh*tstorm that was this week, I have a miserable cold. AND I had to go to the OBGYN this week for my 6 month check-up, which I'd forgotten or I would have moved it. And the OBGYN kept me waiting for over an hour. And I can not even tell you how f-ing sick I am of those stupid freaking "Occupy Wall Street" protesters. AND, waaaaaaaaaaaaah.

Aren't you so glad you asked?? But seriously, I would totally be Sandy. (Because in spite of all of this stuff, I can't help thinking that I did get in an awesome workout last night, my weight is good, there is a Sidecar with my name on it at a restaurant that I'm going to be at within the hour, and even with all this bullsh*t I have going on, life is still pretty good.)

Oh, ugh. Sounds like a rough week in general. Wish things were better...
Incidentally-- My husband looks like an older Ryan Gosling-- pictures of him when he was younger look so much like him. No sure if this is cheery or just sounds silly in the context of your sucky week.
And in the spirit of unsolicited advice: I'd say-- you and S. are at a certain age that if you're ready to move ahead and he is not, then I'd suggest making a big move and saying that if it's not commitment time, you've got to think about moving on. 10 months is plenty of time (in my humble opinion) to come to a conclusion about whether or not to keep moving ahead with a relationship-- and it's a two way street, you have to have what you want too. I wish you luck, and am totally pulling for you!!

First, I love the sound of Champagne opening!

I am truly sorry that you've had a shitty week!

Please don't get worked up about the boyfriend situation. Because you are already unhappy this week things always seem worse.

However I am with everyone else and you should go with your gut. Just wait till your gut is in a good place! (which totally sounds weird!

Umm, seriously? What the HELL, Patty? I can't abide people that never write back. I'll write again to make sure they haven't died. LOL

Ryan Gosling? Nuff said. Hottie! He is very convincing as a young George Clooney.

Also, I hope the boyfriend thing gets resolved. If I were you, I wouldn't wait around for a man who might not be ready for years when you know what you want right now. I always ditch 'em if they're the type to putz around, so I might not be the best person to take advice from. O:)

Holy shit! Seriously - on the fingernail clippers - I hate that too!

Oh babe...I remember having the move in talk - and it not moving forward like you wanted has to be heartbreaking. I'm so sorry. When you ask - what is his answer? Does he have one? Or haven't you asked cuz you are waiting for him to ask first? Either way - ultimatums don't work ever BUT you could tell him that you're having some doubts and YOU are ready and if he is not then more discussions need to take place because your life is your life and you only have a certain amount of time to live it. I doubt you've kept your want for kids and marriage a secret so he can't be shocked. I think he is a good man - and you'll work this out - but your fears are valid. You simply cannot settle...because you deserve happiness every single day. Love you. Keep us posted.

Catherine I can so see you as Sandy :) I would have answered Rizzo cause I am just well like her LOL!

As for Ryan that is a very good answer he melts my socks!

As for S and that situation, I know you have been so happy this past year, I hate to see you keep your life on hold. You are not getting any younger, and if babies are in your future you must begin soon. You are a fantastic woman and quite frankly he should already know this about you! Sounds like he may just not be the marrying type or commitment type. Still you deserve to have your life that you want for yourself.

I hope it works out, he seems like the perfect guy for you. You have so much in common.

I love you, and am rooting for this relationship. I had a horribly shitty week too, I believe the stars are out of align. LOL

Catherine, I worked for a judge one summer, and all of the interns sat around a large table to review briefs together. One intern took out his clippers and clipped his nails with all of us there. One of his nail clippings flew onto my brief. I slid the fragment off of my brief and moved it in front of his area, telling him that I thought that was his. Gross! Sorry about the S situation. I hope he sees what a good thing he has with you:)

Lol, great read Catherine! And Nora's comment/story was great!! In a horrible way. Ewwww!

Poor Patty, she's missing out. It sounds like you guys had some awesome times!

Man, what a week! I personally don't think anyone gets a kick out of seeing their OB. BUT, you have totally reminded me to call them tomorrow and set up an appointment for my annual private inspection, heh. Thanks!

Oh, and I was wondering how things were going to end up with your lease. So are they still asking to raise it a ton or were you able to get them to be reasonable?

Hmmm...well, it's easy to say move on and maybe he doesn't know what a good thing he's got yadda yadda. I don't agree. I know you are in love, he just doesn't have the urgency you feel with your tickity-tockity biological clockity going on. I mean, does the future you envision match the future he envisions? That's always my question.

Loved this post! Sorry about your crap week. I had a similar one last week and I wasn't far from you (Princeton). As far as old friends I would wager a bet that she doesn't have many of them and most of them are new. I'm an old friend keeper. You can't get rid of me!
10 months isn't that long - give it a bit more time. Good guys are very hard to find. You have time!

Thanks so much for commenting on my post. I was afraid everybody had forgotten about me. Trying on the clothes at BOOBS 2010 was one of my favorite memories and I was so bummed to miss seeing everybody this year. Hopefully we can do a mini-boobs in New York again before then.

OK...someone does clips their nails in my office...a few cubicles away! It is the MOST annoying sound EVER!
