SELF-SABOTAGE!!!!

Seriously?? At 3.4 pounds from goal, and I do something like this? Am I TRYING not to get there? WTF?!?
-
OK, so . . tonight, I went out to dinner with Marjorie. . and afterwards, we were seeing a friend's band play at a cool spot called Arlene's Grocery on the Lower East Side. We had dinner at (my choice) The Stanton Social, which is really a great spot. But I went a little crazy (in relative bandster terms) at dinner. I ordered the foie gras. . mind you, this is one of my favorite dishes, and it was two tiny pieces of seared foie gras on some risotto that was formed into a cracker shape. I only ate one of the risotto crackers. BUT, M and I also ordered the herbed fries and - - though it was a small plate (think small McD's fries) and we split it, that was a crazy accompaniment. And, after that, we shared the sundae. . which was peanut butter ice cream, with pieces of peanut butter brittle, drizzled with hot fudge. Seriously. This was the most fattening, most un-bandster-like meal I've had in 17 months. And, while I enjoyed it, I don't think it was worth all of the calories. Something for me to remember for next time. . .

And, if I don't post the 72 for a while. . . I guess we'll all know why that is. . .

Wow 17 months, well done! The fact that you shared dessert means you only had half of what you could have had! Dont beat your self up over it.. Tomorrows a new day. You are such an inspiration xxx

Honey - that was not so bad- not a crazy binge, just lots of yummy, if a little out there choices! Nothing you can't bounce back from, certainly not enough calories for a true gain - get back on the horse tomorrow! We love ya!

I don't call that sabotage.. I call that living.. I understand your goal is so close, but what will you do when you do reach it.. never allow yourself to have these occasional treats. From what I read, you had some good restraint, you shared a small portion.. I think you should good control and realize that you cant do this every day of the week.. but every now and then.. why not..

Be well and give yourself a hug..

That is not sabotage that is just enjoying a meal with a friend. I know you want to hit goal but there shouldn't have to be a diet mentality with the band. And you split 2 small plates and a dessert...no biggie. You will be there before you know it. Jennifer

A splurge once in a while makes you a human-- not a band bandster. You'll get to goal for sure.
Maybe instead of looking at it as 'self-sabotage'-- look at it as a life of moderation that you are learning???
Congrats on doing so great all around.

Catherine - go easy on yourself... it doesn't sound like you had enough to really push the number too far away.... But I do sometimes wonder whether or not we (really me) subconciously do some sabotage as we get close to a number that is uncomfortable for us. Personally, I am thinking that this is part of why I haven't gotten below 200 yet - it is a scary place to be (exciting) that I haven't been in for a LONG time! Just a thought. You'll get there, I promise!!! You're such an inspiration to me! Keep up the great work.

I can understand where you are coming from with your post, but I'm with everyone else on this - it's not sabotage, it's called enjoying yourself and letting go once in a while. If I thought having a band meant I could never have a 'bad' dessert (ie one that doesn't consist only of fruit or fat free yoghurt) again, then I'd be seriously unhappy!
You are doing/have done brilliantly; you look fantastic and are an inspiration to so many of us, so please don't beat yourself up over this.

Not sabotage at all. You had a taste for something & went for it. You deserve that after 17 months! And you did not eat all of this food; you shared your choices - good plan! Your goal will come - you are sooo close.

Don't consider 1 slip-up a total sagotage. Just this week I had 2 days in a row of eating like total crap and lost 1 1/2 lbs. Now that's what makes you scratch your head! Don't totally deprive yourself of things you enjoy, otherwise you might just go beserk someday and really do some damage! Just remember it's the long term that is important and keeping the right frame of mind that you're in this for good. And, I hope you enjoyed your endulgence even if you're beating yourself up about it now. The guilt factor doesn't do you any good.

Dang - you go 17 months without cheating. I am so impressed. You have done such a good job with the head hunger. You must be a very strong individual! I'm new here - just started a blog - the unknown bander! LOL! Kind of anonymous for now...supposed to get my band next month (I hope). I KNOW I'm going to have a difficult time with the brain/food connection. How have you done it? I'm amazed! Congratulations on all of your success. Your blog is great!

That's not sabotage, that's living. What will you do when you can proclaim 72? Your weight will always bounce around a few pounds. I think the key is to KNOW you made these CHOICES and that YOU decided the choices were worth it! If they aren't worth it, don't do it. But to me, it sounds like they were worth it, were enjoyed - and show that you are living a good life to the fullest. Enjoy that - you only get one shot!
