I turn (gulp!) forty this coming November. The big four-oh. As in, Lordy Lordy. . . Look Who's Forty. Ack! Not too much freaks me out about that. . . aside from the biological clock implications and the actual number itself. One reason I'm not as freaked out as I might otherwise be is because of the band and everything it's helped me to accomplish over the last 18 months. I'm not going to be entering this new decade "fair, fat and forty." Fair, yes. . . . forty, yes. . . Fat. . not-a-so-much! :)My thought is this: I have six months to go until my birthday. I'd like to be at my ultimate goal weight by then. I think that number is 7.2 pounds away from where I am this morning (down another .4 from my last low as of two days ago). I reserve the right to stop before then if I feel like I look too thin (oh, to have such problems!). But, I'd really like to enter 40 with my body looking better than it ever has before. It's amazing to me that this is a realistic goal at this stage in my life. I don't think I could have fully processed that a year or two ago.

I'm sure you will be there (or whatever stopping point you determine) by November!!!
You live life to the fullest! Who could ask for more?! I have no doubt that you will reach any milestone you set for yourself...you have had such tremendous success already! I've enjoyed reading about your journey and experiencing your travels and adventures vicariously! Life begins at 40!!!
Surgery Date: May 25

That will be no problem for you I am sure. And remember 40 is the new 20 and you are looking fab!!!
40 shouldn't scare you one bit! You're successful, fit and gorgeous!
I hear you on so many fronts. I turned 41 a few weeks ago and wish I had gone into 40 with the band firmly in place. Oh well, 42 should be great. :)
My biological clock is so loud it is deafening and all I can do is hope that I'll have more fun dating when I feel like I look a bit better.
Here's to a FABULOUS 40!
Woah! It is SO weird that you just blogged about this, because I was awake last night until about 3am stressing about EXACTLY this birthday. I turn...that number...in September (the day after the Chicago trip, to be exact, so yes, you CAN buy me a drink!) and I am freaking out about it. I know that I should be focusing on other things, and working on getting healthy, but that number looming...it is killing me. And then you blogged about it...it's like the universe is mocking me (because it's all about me, right??) Anyway...I don't really know what to say to be supportive to YOU here, since I am clearly a basket case about it. So I'm going to shut up now and continue my freaking out in relative silence (until I have to start blogging about it...)
You are already Fit and Fabulous, now you'll just be adding 40 to the mix!
What a way to hit 40, Catherine! Your 40s are going to be an amazing decade for you - you've accomplished so much already, and now you have a body that matches your adventurous, hardworking and fun spirit. There's no better way to start a new decade than that.
You are so beautiful now and I am pretty sure you're more like my age, or at least that's how it felt when we were together! I know you can reach that giant goal, my b-day's at the end of October and I'm reaching to be at Ultimate goal by then too! xox
First of all...with the new you, you don't even look anywhere close to 40 (in a good way!)! What a great goal to set for yourself and I have no doubt that you wouldn't exceed it!
My 40's have been an interesting decade to say the least, more changes and growth than I ever thought possible. I will be entering my 50's the way you are your 40's. As a matter of fact, when I had my last visit with my PCP to have him sign off on the band, I made him write down in my chart..."Theresa refuses to be fat and 50, she can be 50 or she can be fat, but not both!" So here's to your 40's being the best ever. It's really not so scarey!
Turning 30 is what made me get the band. I really wasn't happy with myself for the last decade and I didn't want to ruin my 30's too.
Your 40's are going to be amazing!<3
40 is the new 20 baby! Embrace it!
YOU CAN DO IT CATHRINE I KNOW YOU CAN!!!!!
Age is a matter of mind - if you don't mind, it doesn't matter.
You are so sucessful and happy, one more birthday isn't going to change that, I'm sure.
I had my band done when I was 41 - best thing I ever did for myself.
Hx
You are so lucky. I promised myself that I'd lose weight by the time I was 40, but it came and went with no loss. Than another year came and went. Well, I'm approaching 42 in September and am hoping to have the band by then. So bu 43 I plan to be in much better shape.
I know you'll hit your goal(whatever you decide it is) and be the picture of fab & 40. I turn 40 next year, but seeing as I still have about 40 pounds to goal and am losing at a snails pace I will be in the same position - looking the best in our lives at 40.
The forties rock so far!! I am 41 and a lot of my buds are just starting to get married and have babies. Your best years are definitely ahead of you!!
you are going to be fab at forty for sure. i want to make a suggestion to you since you mentioned your biological clock. have you considered having some of your eggs frozen? this way you always have an option later on if the need be.
Bah! 40 is the new 20 anyways! ;-)
I am turning 40 in December and I should be getting my band in about 3 weeks, was scheduled for 24th but ended up having to have gallbladder surgery last week so it got push back. Unlike you I won't be anywhere near goal but I want to go in my 40's with a new lease on life.
First off, I wouldn't worry about turning 40. You look amazing, you are in wonderful shape and you will hit goal before then. 40 is just a number.
Second I have a question for you. Did you weight loss stall when you started boot camp hard core? I am still sitting in the high 170's and have been for a month!! I also started working with a trainer about a month ago. I knew you would have some advice about this. You can email me at southerngirlsjourney@gmail.com if you get a chance, I would really appreciate it!
Catherine, 40 is not so bad! You look perfect to me, but wherever you decide, I know you will get there.
Didn't you know that forty is the new 20
Babes (dashie here lol I did find the comment. Vanessa calls me that too! xx)
You may be turning 40 but I can guarantee that's the decade things finally fall into place. My 40's have been the best - the absolute best.
20's yeah - fun - 30s hard work (marriage kids blah blah) but now in my 40's the kids are getting older and life is really just beginning. Course things are different for you BUT I think the 40s are going to hold some surprises for you, too. Maybe theres truth in the hokie old saying - life begins at 40. I really think it does.
Go in eyes open, spread those wings of yours even further and embrace your new age, spunky lady. Love you heaps. xx
What a fabulous goal to have. I love being 40...I am finally comfortable with me. You only have great things coming your way I am sure and to be in a bikini at forty is awesome too.
40! The new 20!!!But with a lot more knowledge and looking as great as you do, It will be another decade of wonder! I am sure you will love it I did and you will too! As I always tell you this is it! LIFE is what happens...enjoy each day it is not a dress rehearsal! You, my love, are beautiful, inside and out.
Age is but a Number! MOM
