I have to admit, I had a great time last night! Chris was just as nice as I'd remembered, and we chatted up a storm. I did mention at one point that I'd lost "a lot" of weight since I'd seen him last and was (ha ha) wondering if he'd recognize me. His response? "Really? I didn't notice -- I just think you look great." Very sweet . . . but let's face it, 50 pounds would be pretty hard not to notice! Either he's the most unobservant person in the world, or he was just not sure what the right thing to say was! I have to believe it's the latter, which is totally fine -- I do understand that this can be an awkward topic. No points taken off for that! :)

Drinks wound up turning into dinner-ish. . we were at a Mexican restaurant (which he thoughtfully picked because it is near my office), so we shared guacamole and chips and a quesadilla, all of which went down just fine. Plus, one thing I like about sharing is that it's not really obvious how little I am eating.

So, after dinner, we walked over a few avenues and he got me a cab, which I always appreciate. There was definitely a smooch goodnight. . . or two. . . which I will give a resounding thumbs-up! :)

And, I can't believe I almost forgot to mention this part. . . he broke up with his old girlfriend in May. AND, (this one's for you, Island Babe!) I told him (after he kissed me) that I'd really enjoyed meeting him at Lesli's party and that I was a little disappointed when he said he had a girlfriend. . and that I was surprised he didn't mention it during the day. He seemed slightly embarrassed, and admitted that it was because he had liked me, even though he wouldn't have acted on it since he had a girlfriend.

Quick update. . he already sent me a note to ask me out for Saturday night or afternoon. So nice! I have plans that night already, but we're going to do brunch that afternoon. :)
Yay! Already asked you out for date #2, eh? Fantastic!
Me likey!
Re men and weight: when I was living with my then-fiance, I came home after a doctor's appointment and announced I had gained 27 pounds in four months. I was shocked! Hadn't he noticed? Why didn't he say something?
He hemmed and hawed and finally said, "Well, if you asked me I would have said you didn't gain anything. But if you made me write it down on a piece of paper I'd probably say 10 pounds."
They have no idea what to say, they know it's a minefield and they're terrified.
HAVE FUN on date #2!
Well you looked great even 50 pounds ago, so I'm not surprised! Sounds great!
Perfect date!
Horray!!! So when is date #2? I'm so glad that you had a nice time and that there was a bit of chemistry!!! Can't wait to see where this goes!
Ahhhh! I love this!!!
love me a budding romance story. happy for you girlie. and glad you called him out on that..... now it's behind you and you know from his response that a)he really digs you and b) he's one of the good guys.
can't wait for an update on brunch
oooh this is exciting news! with a brunch follow up... it MUST be love! Hope you have an equally terrific time at brunch if not better.
:)
How very exciting! I have to live vicariously as an old married woman!
After losing 140 pounds a guy at work asked "have you lost a little weight?" Uh....duh. They are oblivious AND they don't know what to say. I get a lot of "you look great!" rather than the awkward "you have lost a ton of weight!" I suppose it's more polite.
I am so happy for you, Catherine! This sounds like a great date... and moreso since I'm craving Mexican at the moment. :) I love the picture you put with this too. LOL! I can't wait to hear more. I think all of us want you to find a terrific guy!
Way cool. He sounds JUST lovely and I hope he keeps treating you right or he's gonna have to deal with a friend of yours from Oz getting 'on his ass!'. Kisses.
wahooo..sounds like a keeper so far. As Joey said..do keep us up to speed. I am also an old married person and like to hear about the fun.
PS..I am coming to NY next Thursday for the weekend. There is a meet-up in the works. Email me if you want to try and join in. tina@deadhat.com
Ohh. Interesting, to say the very least!!! So glad #2 is in the works and can't wait to hear all about it!
Yay for new boyfriends...he sounds nice.
Can't wait to hear about the brunch.
Is he a good kisser???
Way to go-- sounds like so much fun, I can't wait to hear more...
glad you had a great time! when is date #2?
