Me, after cleaning the blood off my heel from a bike accident I had on Block Island. I thought the pose was great for this post! P.S. It was just a scratch.... P.P.S. I'd had two glasses of wine before this was taken. P.P.P.S. I probably wouldn't have wiped out on that steep grassy hill if I hadn't! :)
If you would have told me in October 2008 that in under four years, I would have transformed into an athletic, fit, person -- and would be engaged to a guy who I'm crazy about, I would have crossed my fingers and said a prayer that there was some chance you'd be right. If you would have told me how much enjoyment, satisfaction, joy, friendship and support I would receive through that time, it would have been hard for me to comprehend that that could be possible.

The changes through the last several years have really been amazing. These days, I am out in Amagansett (the Hamptons) with friends for much of the summer, and I don't give much thought to tossing on a bikini and laying out in front of them. I don't worry about looking fat, and I also don't feel bad about how I look or what I eat. Part of that has to do with the band, and part of it has to do with the fact that I make a real effort to get in to the gym and not to sabotage myself with bad food choices (not that I'm perfect -- FAR from it). It also doesn't hurt that I've been talking to my trusty therapist every other week through this entire process.

Anyway, I am really counting my blessings right now, and feel so grateful for everything that has happened since I began this process. Thank all of you for your sweet messages on my engagement post! I loved reading them all, and it was so nice to get to share that wonderful news with you! I'm seriously on Cloud Nine. Not a bad time to take a minute to appreciate what a great journey this has been so far, and how grateful I am for finding a way to change the one thing -- my weight -- that was holding me back from really enjoying my life as much as I could.

Love the pic!!!
It is a great feeling to realize how far you have come!
Awesome post! You are such an inspiration not only b/c you are a fellow New Yorker and attorney but just because you have been so open and honest about your journey! Thank you for sharing the therapist part I noticed after I hit my 100 lb weight loss and started my weight gain that came after not going to my therapist and I started back a fe weeks ago myself. I am already down about 10 pounds and I am pushing back towards my goal! Thanks so much!!
I'm thrilled that things have turned out so well for you. You have years and years of happiness ahead of you and the fact that you were able to document all the ups and downs is awesome, because you can see how you have transformed both physically and mentally.
I gotta ask, though. What is up with that crazy wall paper in the background? I just had a laura Ashley circa 1990 flashback!! :)
I love seeing you so happy! After reading your blog from beginning til now it is apparent where you were, and where you have evolved to!
No one deserves this more, you are an amazing woman, and so down to earth in real life. I feel so blessed to have met you!

Dearest Catherine - what an awesome post. We've always been close (didn't you know that?) because we were banded at the same time -- and it always seemed that our band journey was on the same road. I'm so especially happy for you and wish you and Steve a happy life together.

Love this post! Congrats on your engagement!
OMGGGGGGG!!!! I've only just caught up with your blog and so I'm a bit behind with THE news!!!!
How completely, totally and absolutely wonderful! I'm so excited and pleased for you both.
Hope you'll be booking a VERY large venue for the wedding, because you know all us banded bloggers will be coming along, right?!
I'm really bad at commenting but I wanted to tell you that I read your entire blog from start to finish during the first 48 hours after my surgery back in January. I was so inspired because we have similar start and goal weights. Since then I've really loved seeing your updates and I was so excited to see your engagement news. Congrats!
Dear, sweet Catherine! I have been away from the blogs for so long....congratulations on your engagement!!!!! I could not be happier for you. Steve is a very lucky man!
Congrats on rounding out your list and your engagement Catherine!
When I started reading your blog last year, I sat here and read ALL your blog from start to finish in about 3 nights! You gave me so much confidence to realize I, too, could succeed in my weight loss! You'll be happy to know, partially thanks to you and your blog, I am 14 months out and 88 lbs down :) I've started a workout regimen to help tone up and get my skin to get back into place!
Anyway, congrats and thank you for the inspiration!!!
