(If you click on this photo, you can see a bigger version. . if you dare!)
Dr. Rumbaut helped coordinate my follow-up treatments with NYU, and I've been seeing Dr. Ren (who is fantastic). She told me that my lower scar is a bit "keloid" and that I may have been allergic to the sutures. So, that scar really hasn't faded as much as it should have by now. I'm not thrilled to have it, but it does so much less to hurt my appearance than the 72 pounds it helped me to take off that it's hard to care too much!My port is just a bit above the big scar, and it's not visible at all. I can definitely feel it if I touch it, but C never seemed to notice it during the four or so months that I was seeing him. I asked one of my best friends about it a month or so ago (he's actually someone I dated for several years, long ago) and let him touch the port (I kind of like to freak out my closest non-bandster friends with this) . . he said that he would have definitely noticed it if he was in C's position.
By the way, does anyone else like to say "port" in a funny voice? It's one of those words like "laser" that just cries out to be pronounced in a weird futuristic voice! I'll do a demo in my next vlog. . I promise! :)

That is a fine looking tummy if I do say so myself! I'm sure everyone will agree that they would trade 72 or any # of lbs. for a scar!
Thanks for sharing and your right, I was wondering if they really disappear or not. Not that I will be wearing a bikini or anything...just wondering.
LOL Now I will say PORT with a funny voice all the time...I mess with my sister and she touches my PORT all the time and she gets freaked out each time...shes 16. LOL.
p.s I wish my Tummy looked half as good as yours! your lookin great girl!
Can I have your stomach please? Look at it - all tanned and flat.. the scars are bare there. Great pic, Catherine.
PS How are you? It's been a while since we've emailed. I've been thinking about you x
Thanks for posting that Catherine...besides being suitably jealous of your gorgeous abdomen I have been wondering how my scars will end up looking. My surgeon made the biggest incision in my belly button which is unreal because you can't see it....but I had an allergic reaction to the adhesive on the steri strips used on one of my incisions and it is hideous....I also get bruises from where my port is...i Obviously bang it not that it hurts .well done on all fronts you look amazing
Sorry, I had to delete my previous post as typos drive me a bit batty.
You have got a great looking tummy, so taut and flat. You're also fortunate to have had only 2 incisions.
Have you tried scar reducer strips for your larger scar? I've been using Elastoplast Scar Reducer strips as I have a tendency to keloid. It's reasonably priced and clear in colour and can be cut into smaller pieces as necessary. You can "google" it for more information.
Funny, I tend to emphasize PORT in my sentences too, it's just one those wierd words
My sister in law was just asking me today what the scars would look like.. Thanks for showing us :0)
That is a fine looking tummy! There is a pic of mine on my blog and it is all wobbly and baggy with lose skin - you have done really well to look so toned.
(I guess I had more abdominal fat than you did to start with).
My scars are virtually invisible, cos of all the loose skin and stretch marks. Oh well!
Hx
Your stomach looks wonderful. If your large scar bothers you you can get your surgeon to prescribe Hytone cream which will fade and shrink the scar. It is high dose hydrocortisone cream.
Im so envious of that tummy! I had the same amout of weight to loose as you and I need not only a tummy tuck, but an entire body lift. You are going to do great when you have a baby with skin that wonderful. I bet you dont get any stretch marks lucky girl!
I just found your blog and think you're fabulous. You tummy is amazing. You must be so pleased to not have loose skin! I haven't had my surgery yet, a few months to go and i'm quite nervous. You're an amazing inspiration though. I'll definitely be back to continue reading your story.
Cheers from Australia!
