Me, my bootie and my adorable nephew at the U.S. Open last weekend!
You see, I've gone through my entire teen and adult life thinking my butt was horrible -- too big, not shapely, etc. My family, frankly, did wonders toward reinforcing my bad feelings about this, among other things. . . but this blog is not about blame-casting. Suffice it to say that, for my entire life up to -- possibly now -- if Sir Mixalot came through on the speakers, I was hiding my gadunkadunk on a chair!
Anyway, after more than a year of boot camp, yoga and a few months of spin, honestly, the ole bootie is looking pretty darned good. Who knew that I'd have to get to nearly 40 years old to get a butt that I actually like?!? Heck . . I never thought it would be possible to be happy with that particular feature, so I'm shocked to get to it at any age. Anyway, I knew you guys would be among the very few who would understand my feelings on this. Crazy, unexpected NSV!!
With my friend Angelina at her birthday party 2 weeks ago. I thought this photo was a fluke!

Awesome NSV! I am still trying to get my perpetual problem area, my stomach, to look decent. With clothes, it's okay. Without, it's not so great.
I love your dresses!!! Cute, cute, cute!
Congrats on your fabulous bootie shot! I recently had my hubby take my before pic and I did one of my back side and saw it and was shocked at what I saw. Thanks for showing me it can be done:)
Fantastic NSV - what a great feeling to know your "problem" area is a problem no more!
Fantastic butt! I want to eat stuff off it! Nice NSV :)
That my dearest Catherine is a butt to be proud of!! You look just wonderful (love your cute summer dresses too.. can't wait for summer to hit here so I can wear some too.. but my butt wont be as shapely as yours.. pancake butt ring a bell?? lol) Congrats xxx
so now when that particular sir-mix-a-lot song comes on you won't be hiding in the corner right? You have done a fantastic job and can be very proud of where you are today!
What a great feeling!!! that is so awesome! You look great as always!
No fluke:) you have gone and got yourself a cute butt!!
Nice work:)
You are bootylicsious Catherine...these photos's prove it!
Whoo Hooo!!! I know personally, I am just thrilled that my "butt shelf" is just a "butt sill" now! :-)
Very nice little bootie indeed!
LOL, awesome NSV indeed. My problems are with my non-shapely butt and my stomach. If I could improve those areas with weight loss I will be jumping for joy!!
LOL Love it!!! A TRUE NSV!!!!
Good for you! I've spent the last 30 years trying to find a handbag big enough to cover at least half of my behind, I can't imagine what a feeling that must be!
Yay! Congratulations!
I totally feel the same way, one of the reasons I never wear jeans! But you are rocking it now! Congrats! I love that dress, I almost bought it....it is flattering from the back, for sure! how about the front? Do you love it?
Your gadunkadunk is hot, lady! <3
@Gilly - Bon appetit! LOL! Your post cracked me up!
@Jen - Definitely going to shake it next time I hear that song! :)
@Pam - I actually think the bootie improvement is really due to the exercise (in addition to losing weight). I think the 9 million squat thrusts I did at boot camp had a lot to do with it. When I was this weight before, my bootie did not look like this (or if it did, I was too self-critical to appreciate it)!
@Gen - I do like this dress, but the bra situation was a bit hard to figure out. I finally went with a strapless one, and that works well, but getting this outfit on & off is a struggle! Definitely not something to wear clothes shopping.
Don't you just LOVE not cringing when photos are taken! You have earned every bit of that small butt!
High and firm...high and firm......
It's true! You have a hot ass!
Catherine- I love your blog. I am just 2 months into this 'journey' and reading your expereince through your blog from beginning to end is so inspirational to me. It helps me to realize that it's truly a marathon, not a sprint. Thanks for always sharing with us, it helps a LOT!!
Looking Good! I love your Sir Mixalot and Badonkadonk comment. . . .you are toooooo funny!!!
Your blog is wonderful. I'm a management consultant in DC and I'm getting banded 9/15. I read your pro and con list and it allayed a lot of my fears. You look wonderful wonderful wonderful...but more importantly your outlook is so healthy and wonderful. Alice
You kicked your old ass to the curb and got a fantastic ass in return! I know the weight loss helped with that, but it is most certainly all of the exercise you have been doing that has given you such a nice shapely booty! Congratulations!
Sweet NSV! You are rockin it!
I know I'm late leaving a comment, but wanted to say congrats and glad all your hard work paid off.
lookin fabulous from every angle lady! I just nominated you for a blogger award :)
At least you had a butt to work with!! LOL! I've never had much of one so I also have the classic pancake butt...consider yourself lucky!
Hi Catherine
thanks so much for the kind words and support you left on my blog earlier today. i don't have much hope that surgery is going forward on the 22nd, and have decided that i'm going to explore surgery in mexico (perhaps in december or january) because i refuse to self pay $17k here for something that i FIRMLY believe my insurance company should be covering. Would love to get your thoughts since you went to Mexico. My mom freaked when i mentioned going this route last night until i reminded her that i had an emergency appendectomy while at school in mexico many moons ago!
I'm curious to know more about your doc, their plan, costs, etc. If you'd rather email than post on my blog, you can send to jessicajrobertson@gmail.com
thanks!!!!
Hi Catherine,
came across your blog and I'm loving it ! I am also considering going to Mexico to have the lap band done seeing as my insurance has denied the surgery saying that I wasn't "fat enough". (I am 100lbs overweight with diabetes). Can you tell me why you chose to go to Mexico instead of a US hospital ? Thanks in advance for any info you can share on this.
Congrats on your new bootie! And, thanks for stopping by my blog and the nice comment. I know there was a lot uproar over that post and it was really not intended to be inflammatory so I'm glad you saw the point of it. Unfortunately some people didn't even read the whole post or read only what other people blogged about and it. I wish you continued success!
